Ballet needs real men
Eines der wichtigsten Dinge vorweg: Ballett hat viel mit Emotionen zu tun, mit persönlichen Gefühlen und Erfahrungen, die man macht im Kreis der Familie, in der Gesellschaft, in der Nachbarschaft, in der Schule – kurz mit allem, was uns im Leben begegnet. Ballett ist eine der Möglichkeiten, dies alles auf der Bühne auszudrücken. Du kannst in die verschiedensten Charaktere schlüpfen, und jedes Mal spielst du mit einem anderen Herzen, das du der Rolle einpflanzt. Ein aufregendes Unterfangen.
First one of the most important things: ballet has to do a lot with emotions, with personal feelings and experiences that you get within the family, in society, in your neighbourhood, in school – in short with everything we encounter in life. Ballet is one of the possibilities to express it all on a stage. You can portray the most different characters, and every time you play with a different heart that you imbue the role with. An exciting undertaking.
Viele Menschen sind nicht in der Lage, ihre Gefühle zu zeigen, noch dazu öffentlich. Als Balletttänzer musst Du das können! Oft fressen schon Kinder alles in sich hinein, ohne eine Regung zu zeigen oder die Chance zu haben, sich auszuleben. So können kriminelle Lebensläufe entstehen, denn jeder Mensch hat auch seine dunklen Seiten. Im Ballett kann ich jedoch jede Facette meiner Persönlichkeit vorzeigen, auch die weniger erfreulichen – und ich muss das nicht im wirklichen Leben tun.
Many people are unable to show their emotions, above all in public. As a ballet dancer you must be able to do just that. Even children often swallow everything without showing reaction or without having the chance to express themselves. In this way a criminal career can be initiated, for every-body also has his dark sides. In ballet, however, I can present each facet of my personality. Even the less pleasant ones – and I need not do that in real life.
